oh, look! chuck has this team-lead thing down! after accepting the meeting (which will happen right after the tech fair, which could be good or bad), i asked, "though i'm a little nervous about the format: why just me, you & teresa? what about the rest of our team?" and he wrote:
Good question. Because you are the one with misgivings and alternative suggestions. It is not meant to be punitive. If you're going to express strongly held opinions then it is only fair that we listen to them and you exaplin them. I want to make sure that Teresa, and I for that matter, understands where you're coming from. It is a sign of respect. If I did not value your point of view I wouldn't bother.
I suspect it will better to do this first so that we understand our organizational parameters, then when we meet as a group to finalize our plans we will know what our constraints are. It is good to dream, but it is also good to view your goals thru a filter of what is possible.
You really shouldn't be nervous. You have opinions and you want folks to address them. We want to listen. It's meant to be communication, not confrontation.
i almost went right upstairs and thanked him. i'm not sure it makes me any less nervous because the sincerity is hard to gauge, but it's a chance. another chance to rescue myself from another year and a half of pain. my last chance. and i have to take it.
