[#] [5]
i've been trying to get this out for a few days now.

public service announcement:
teen pregnancy is not a crime

please stop treating it like one.

Comments:
Leopoldo is very confused by this entry. Do you care to help enlighten Leopoldo?

yeah, it's sort of out of the blue. :) i don't tend to get out-loud political about stuff especially on the blog.

i'm very much against anti-abortion parental notification & consent laws. teenage pregnancy isn't a crime (yet), and teens otherwise have the right to medical treatment w/o parental consent or notification. these laws are being marketed as pro-family, but their true intent is to force pregnancy on many girls who would not otherwise want it and in circumstances likely to produce unwanted children in unhappy homes. mph would -not- say this, but i'm using his words: i think the more a teen feels compelled to keep an abortion a secret from her parents, the less i think she should be compelled to disclose it.

just to clarify, mph said, "Wives shouldn’t be required to tell their husbands, and the more a woman feels compelled to keep an abortion a secret from her spouse, the less I think she should be compelled to disclose it."

but he favors parental notification/consent laws and i don't want to imply he agrees with my take on his words, whereas i think that sentiment should apply to any pregnant woman, regardless of her age or situation.

and to be even clearer: i'm not anti-child or anti-pregnancy. i want a woman to choose to give birth, to choose to share her body with a fetus for nine months. i want wanted children.

Oh, actually the image clears it up.. when I loaded the page (when I posted it) I saw no image, just the text.

oh! well, yes, then that -would- make a lot more sense. :)
